Skiing Whistler

Whistler lived up to all the hype, and passed it. It is a very very big mountain. In fact, it is 2 very big mountains. See it here on Google Earth (an awesome tool) (in summer time).

Perisher: 3076 acres - 50 lifts - 53k skiiers/hr - 3km long run
Whistler: 8100 acres - 33 lifts - 59k skiiers/hr - 11k long run
Vail: 5300 acres - 34 lifts - 54k skiiers/hr - 6km long run

Conditions on day 1 were fabulous. Blue skies and shin deep powder everywhere. Fresh tracks. Due to the number of Cat tracks at Whistler, I decided to ski Sat, and possibly board Sun, but I did not regret it. The boarders were struggling there that I saw, and I was having a ball on the planks again. I really think the boarding improved my skiing somehow. On Sunday the cloud came in and with cloud and snowfall, visibility was shot in some places.

Alyssa made me do a little jump which nearly killed me, you can see it here It is 2.5 mg. Its is a blight on my skiing ability, but I maintain that the hill was much steeper than it looks in the video and that jump, was a rock, and my skiis stuck fast on it. It was a great moment in sports.

With a degree of difficulty 1.0, I give that a 2/10. I think the landing needs some work.

That is the funniest thing I have ever seen.

You have $500 on funniest home videos.

You are a shithouse skiier, no wonder you took up boarding.
